Warehouse

Although foreign trade is increasing year by year, there are sufficient warehouse facilities at the entry points. Storage fees may vary depending on whether the warehouses are located inside or outside the port facilities. For example, while the storage fee within the port facilities is approximately US$15/day/20’ container, a tariff per MT per month of approximately USD$2.2/MT/month can be added to a warehouse outside the port facilities.

The Port Authority provides three (3) days of free storage.

Customs Clearance and Document Information

General documents required are:
• Original AWB or B/L
• Original Pro-Forma Invoice
• Import License: issued according to the Pro-Forma Invoice information.
• Import Declaration: issued according to the Pro-Forma Invoice & Import License information.

Special documents required are:
• Origin certificate: for food commodities
• Phyto certificate: i.e. rice, lentils, green peas, etc.
• Health certificate: for vegoil & sugar, stating product is SUITABLE FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.
• Donation certificate: to apply for tax & duties exemptions.

It is best to try and obtain an import license approval prior to shipment arrival. Once the cargo arrives at port, the health authorities inspect the cargo in order to authorize vessel unloading. Containers are placed in the container yard within the port facilities. Afterwards, the containers are transferred to the bonded warehouse. The original B/L is required at this time. At the bonded warehouse, the containers are unpackaged and are returned immediately to port. Further inspections take place at the bonded warehouse once the customs clearing process starts. Phyto, Origin, Import License, etc. are required in this period.

From the time the cargo arrives at the port to the time it is cleared, it is about 10 working days.
